Masik Shivratri April 2026: Significance

It is said that the manifestation of Lord Shiva took place for the first time in the form of Lingam on Shivratri. Once, an argument occurred between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu about which of the two was superior. It is said that Lord Shiva appeared as a column of fire during that argument. This day is especially important from the point of view of protection from enemies and success in life.

Masik Shivratri April 2026: Rituals

During Masik Shivaratri, the devotees fast from sunrise to the next sunrise. Following a morning ablution, devotees perform the abhishekam of the Shivlingam using milk and Gangajal. In addition, devotees offer bel leaves, dhatura, and various fruits and flowers to Lord Shiva.
