Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been creating a massive buzz ever since its first look was released. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana on the big screen. However, a recent update from Yash may disappoint many, as he confirmed that the two characters will not share screen space in the first part.

The first teaser, which was released on Hanuman Jayanti, April 2nd, gave a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, while Yash appeared as Ravana without revealing his face. Since then, fans have been excited to witness their on-screen clash. However, Yash recently clarified that there will be no direct face-off between him and Ranbir in the first instalment. This means audiences will have to wait longer to see their much-anticipated confrontation.

Yash And Ranbir’s Off-Screen Bond

During a promotional event with Namit Malhotra at CinemaCon, Yash spoke about his equation with Ranbir Kapoor.

Yash was asked about his relationship with Ranbir Kapoor on set and how they built their rapport. Responding to this, Yash said, “The interesting thing is that we haven’t shared screen space together in this film. As you all know, the film will be released in two parts, so in the first part, I feel that as Ravana, I have my own kingdom, and Ram has his own.”

Yash further added, “But yes, we have met several times, and Ranbir is truly a brilliant actor. We share a great mutual understanding. When you take on an ambitious and extraordinary project like ‘Ramayana’, everyone has the same goal—to present the story in the best possible way. I think our thought process is quite similar, so there has been no issue with coordination. We are really enjoying the process.”

Film to Release in Two Parts

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana will be released in two parts. The first part is reportedly scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, while the second part might release on Diwali 2027. The makers are planning a grand cinematic experience, spreading the story across two films.

Big Budget and Global Scale

The film is being made on a massive budget of around Rs 4000 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever. Music legends like A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer have collaborated for the first time for this project. At CinemaCon 2026, the makers also showcased costumes of Ram, Sita and Ravana. This marks the first time an Indian mythological film has been presented on such a grand international platform.
