'There Is No Agreement': Iran Denies Asking US To Halt Strikes, Refutes Strait Of Hormuz Deal 

Iran-US Tensions: Iran on Sunday rejected US President Donald Trump's claims that Tehran had agreed to end its nuclear program and reopen the Strait of Hormuz as part of a possible deal, calling the assertions false.

Tehran also dismissed recent American military threats, stating that Washington is not in a position to launch strikes against the country.

"The U.S. is not in a position to attack us militarily. These threats are more psychological cover for failure than operational strategy," Iran's Defence Minister was quoted as saying by the Mehr News Agency.

Iran Rejects Strait of Hormuz Reopening Reports

Iran has also dismissed Trump's latest claims that Tehran sought a deal involving the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Fars News Agency, Iranian officials stated that "there is no agreement regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz." Tehran also rejected reports that it had accepted a US-backed Qatari proposal to reopen the waterway, calling the claims false, and further denied an Israeli Channel 12 report claiming Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had agreed to such a deal.

Iran maintained that the Strait of Hormuz remains fully closed. Officials clarified that vessels would only be allowed to pass through a designated route with permission from the IRGC Navy, emphasising that there has been no change in its policy.

Trump Cancels Planned Attack On Iran

Trump on Saturday night announced that he had called off a planned attack on Iran after Tehran and other Middle Eastern countries urged him to hold back. Earlier, US officials had indicated that strikes against Iranian infrastructure were being considered to pressure Tehran to accept Washington's ceasefire terms.

"I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added that Iran and "other Middle Eastern countries" had requested the United States to delay the attack because "the perimeters of a deal had been agreed to."

According to Trump, the proposed framework includes the "Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat."
