US President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned Iran over delays in Pakistan-mediated peace deal talks. He cautioned that Tehran would “have to pay the price” if it continues to stall negotiations. Trump’s remark came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) claimed they carried out coordinated missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain in retaliation for earlier attacks on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump Warns Iran Over Delays In Talks

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Iran’s military has been severely weakened and described the country as “all talk and no action.” He said Iran’s Navy and Air Force “don’t even exist anymore,” adding that the country has been “completely defeated” and calling it the “Bully of the Middle East.” Trump also criticised Iran for delaying a potential deal, warning that it will “have to pay the price” for taking too long to negotiate.

He wrote, “Iran’s Military is a complete and total mess. Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore - They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Trump Hints At Possible New Strikes

Later, speaking to Fox News, Trump said he is close to authorising new military strikes against Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges. Notably, Trump's latest warning to Iran contradicts Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s claim that negotiations between Iran and the US are moving closer to their “final objective.” On Monday, Sharif urged restraint amid renewed tensions in the Middle East, while calling to stick to diplomacy to achieve a deal.

What Did Pak PM Claim?

He wrote on X, “The recent surge in violence in the Middle East is a stark reminder of the dangers associated with a tenuous ceasefire and the unbearable consequences it may lead to. As we work earnestly and painstakingly, together with our brothers and partners, to find a peaceful diplomatic solution to the conflict, and especially when the final objective is just about to be achieved."

Sharif added, "We sincerely urge all sides to exercise restraint and give peace a little more chance. Let us continue to remain on the path of peace and diplomacy which have bright prospects of success instead of violence and destruction!”
