- Pakistan’s DG ISPR questioned Afghan claims of shared DNA with India and warned Muslims against befriending non-believers.

Pakistan Army’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has sparked a major controversy over remarks made during an official press conference in Rawalpindi while responding to recent comments by an Afghan Taliban minister on India-Afghanistan relations.
Referring to the growing ties between India and Afghanistan, Chaudhry said, "Afghans say their DNA is the same as Indians. If that's true, how can Afghans be Muslims?"

He further said, "Do not befriend kafirs (non-believers) and leave the faithful. If you do that, there's a problem. Then you are not among the Muslims."
The DG ISPR also alleged, "The main instrument of the TTP and the Afghan regime is terrorism. They run their economy, government and even diplomacy on the back of terror."
His remarks came in response to Afghan minister Mawlawi Attaullah Omari, who, during a recent visit to India, reportedly said that Afghanistan and India “share the same DNA" and highlighted the historical and cultural bonds between the two countries. Responding to the statement, Chaudhry cited a Quranic verse, saying that Muslims should not befriend kafirs.
The remarks were made during a broader briefing on counter-terrorism, Balochistan, Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, and Pakistan’s allegations of Indian involvement in militant activities.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have faced strained relations since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
Amid a severe food crisis in Afghanistan, reports emerged that wheat supplied by Pakistan was rotten and unfit for consumption. In contrast, Afghans publicly praised India for sending 50,000 metric tonnes of high-quality emergency wheat. Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have also escalated over border disputes, including those related to the Balochistan region.
