Amid the ongoing Middle East crisis, and days after the “failed” Islamabad Talks 2026 between the US and Iran, China’s President Xi Jinping has proposed a four-point roadmap for lasting peace in the region. The proposal was made during his meeting on Tuesday with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to Chinese state news agency Xinhua.

The move comes shortly after US-Iran ceasefire talks in Pakistan failed to yield a breakthrough.

Xi’s four-point proposal includes:

1. Upholding the principle of peaceful coexistence

2. Adhering to national sovereignty

3. Coordinating development with security

4. Safeguarding the international rule-based order

“Safeguard the authority of the international rule of law. It can’t be 'use it when it suits us, discard it when it doesn't,' and we cannot allow the world to revert to the law of the jungle,” Xi stated.

While China has repeatedly called the joint US-Israeli military campaign illegal, Xi has made limited public comments on the conflict so far.

The Chinese leader is also expected to hold a high-stakes meeting with US President Donald Trump in Beijing next month.
