One of Dubai’s most famous landmarks, Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, a luxury hotel is set to undergo its first major renovation since its opening in 1999. The sail-shaped hotel will be restored in a planned project announced by Jumeirah Group on April 15. The renovation will be carried out in phases and will take approximately around 18 months to complete.

Why Dubai’s Hotel Is Undergoing Renovation?

The aim of this restoration is to refresh parts of the hotel while keeping its original design and identity intact for future guests. The work will include updating interior spaces without changing the iconic look of the property. Jumeirah CEO Thomas B Meier said, “This restoration programme marks a new chapter in the story of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, one that will carefully preserve the heritage of what is currently the sole property in our Jumeirah limited-edition collection of iconic landmark addresses defined by design distinction and prestige.”

The hotel had come to light following a wave of Iranian strikes targetting Gulf states on March 1. According to the news agency AFP report, Dubai authorities confirmed that debris from an intercepted drone caused a “minor fire” on the outer structure of the Burj Al Arab.

The Burj Al Arab has been one of Dubai’s most recognised hotels since it opened 27 years ago. Its sail-like structure, 198 luxury suites, and grand interiors featuring marble, gold, and crystal make it one of the most photographed hotels globally.
