Imagine walking into a restaurant and feeling so overwhelmed by the endless menu options that you have no idea what to order, only for someone to step in and suggest the perfect meal based on your mood and hunger. It sounds like a cool idea, right? This unique trend is actually being followed by certain Chinese hotels and restaurants using AI diagnosis robots.

According to South China Morning Post reports, at the 24 Jieqi Robot Restaurant in Xihu district, a viral "AI diagnosis robot" evaluates customers by scanning their faces and tongues. The robot then generates a detailed report regarding the customer's lifestyle, emotions and digestive health. Based on this data and the current weather, it recommends specific dishes designed to improve the customer's overall well-being.

Automated Staffing And Operational Efficiency

The integration of technology extends far beyond digital consultations. In these modern establishments, a fleet of eight robots manages the full cycle of restaurant operations, including cooking, serving and sanitation. These machines have successfully absorbed approximately 60 per cent of the kitchen's total workload.

For human staff, such as Chef Deng Xuhui at the Madayunhe Community Canteen, the shift has transformed the nature of the job. Rather than performing manual labor during peak hours, chefs now oversee the machinery, allowing them more time to focus on ingredient quality and culinary innovation.

Public Perception And Social Impact

While this AI technology offers many practical benefits, people remains deeply divided on this. At one side a regular customer have expressed surprise at the high quality of the food, noting that robot-cooked meals are indistinguishable from human-prepared dishes and are often more affordable. Older diners, in particular, have praised the machines for producing healthy, lightly seasoned meals.

However, the rise of AI-driven dining has also sparked a significant backlash online. Critics argue that the rapid automation of the service industry is displacing grassroots workers and threatening job security.

While some social media users celebrate the convenience of a future without manual cooking, others express concern over the long-term societal implications of a world where human labor is increasingly redundant.
