Kazakhstan vs Hungary Friendly: When the football family is gearing up for the FIFA World Cup 2026, a bizarre incident occurred during a friendly between Hungary and Kazakhstan. The camera crew along with the players escaped a major misfortune after a spider-cam, supported from wires above the stadium, fell straight onto the pitch.
The horrific moment unfolded midway through the first half when the aerial camera system, supported high above the playing surface by cables, suddenly began smoking before crashing to the ground. The camera landed just inside the touchline near Hungary's warm-up area, only a few yards away from a camera crew member, expressing concern among players, officials and fans.
According to a BBC report, Hungarian media stated that one of the cables supporting the spider-cam was damaged by fire, causing the equipment to lose support. Hanging more than 20 metres above the pitch, the camera then came flaming down, forcing an immediate stoppage in play.

The match eventually resumed without further issues, allowing the friendly fixture to continue as scheduled. Hungary, who like Kazakhstan failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026, went on to register a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Among the scorers for the hosts was Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who helped Hungary secure the win after the unusual interruption.
While the result ultimately went Hungary's way, the spider-cam malfunction quickly became the talking point of the evening, with many highlighting how the incident could have had far more serious consequences had the camera landed on the players, staff or spectators.
