With the FIFA World Cup 2026 knocking at the door, audiences all over the world, including India, are busy finding channels and streams. Fans are gearing up to watch their idols and heroes perform on television or broadcasting channels.
In this hour, DD Sports has announced that it will telecast the opening match of the FIFA World Cup at 12.30 am IST on June 12. Doordarshan Sports said the Mexico vs South Africa opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be telecast live on DD Sports on DD Free Dish via an Instagram post.

This development brings the inaugural match, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finale of the FIFA World Cup within the public broadcast framework through Prasar Bharati.
This itself is significant as these matches are now set to be available on DD Sports 1.0, widening free-to-air access for viewers. Sources close to the ministry said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have amended the relevant notification after consultations with Zee officials.
