The Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow are set to conclude with a spectacular Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 2, bringing the 11-day sporting extravaganza to an emotional end. Held at the iconic OVO Hydro, the ceremony will celebrate the achievements of athletes from across the Commonwealth while marking the official handover to Ahmedabad, which will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
India heads into the final day with a haul of 39 medals (13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze) and will also take centre stage during the baton handover as the country prepares to welcome the Games in four years' time.

An Emotional Farewell to Glasgow 2026
Organisers have promised a memorable evening filled with music, celebration and reflection as Glasgow bids farewell to the Games.
"The Closing Ceremony is all about connection. It's going to be emotional," said Louisa Mahon, Chief Marketing and Ceremonies Officer at Glasgow 2026.
"It's the moment that we celebrate and say thank you to athletes from across the Commonwealth and to the people of Glasgow who got behind the Games. It's a time for reflection, but it's also a huge afters – a time to party, in a way that only Glasgow does," he added.
Star-Studded Performers at the Closing Ceremony
The ceremony will feature a mix of Scottish, Australian and Indian artists, promising an entertaining finale.
Among the headline performers are:
- Simple Minds, the legendary Scottish rock band known for hits including Alive and Kicking, Waterfront, Promised You a Miracle and Belfast Child.
- Scottish rapper BEMZ.
- Singer-songwriter Cammy Barnes.
- Scottish artist Sandi Thom.
- Australian singer Delta Goodrem, who previously performed at the Melbourne 2006 and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
As part of the official handover to Ahmedabad 2030, India will showcase its cultural heritage through performances by celebrated singer Shankar Mahadevan and Bollywood actress Rashmika Mandanna.
India to Receive the Baton for Ahmedabad 2030
One of the biggest highlights of the evening will be the ceremonial transfer of the Commonwealth Games baton to India.
With Ahmedabad confirmed as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, the closing ceremony will include a special segment introducing the next edition of the multi-sport event through music, dance and cultural performances.
