Parama Ekadashi 2026: According to the Hindu Calendar, a total of 24 Ekadashis are observed by devotees of Lord Vishnu every year, out of which one Ekadashi occurs only once every three years. This Ekadashi is called Parama Ekadashi. It falls during the Krishna Paksha of Adhik Maas, an extra lunar month in the Hindu Calendar. Fasting on this Ekadashi can multiply your spiritual benefits.

This year, Parama Ekadashi will be observed on 11th June, 2026, which is a Thursday. Since Thursday is considered the day of Lord Vishnu, fasting on this day can have many benefits.

Parama Ekadashi 2026: Vrat Significance
Observing a fast on this day has a lot of spiritual merits, such as:
1. It eradicates poverty, thus bringing prosperity and wealth.
2. Keeping fast on this day will be equivalent to visiting all the pilgrimage places.
3. This ekadashi also helps devotees to dissolve their past sins and clear karmic debts, thus helping them attain moksha.
4. Observing a vrat on this ekadashi helps devotees in reducing their attachments to materialistic things.
5. For many devotees, Parama Ekadashi can also be a powerful tool in taking control over their senses and moving towards spiritual growth.

Parama Ekadashi 2026: Puja Vidhi
Devotees of Lord Vishnu perform a series of rituals to get his immense blessings. They are:
1. The devotees wake up before the Brahma Muhurat and take a bath to cleanse themselves.
2. They clean their surroundings and the puja room.
3. Then devotees place an image or idol of Lord Vishnu on a wooden plate and offer him some Tulsi leaves, yellow flowers, fruits, and light a ghee lamp. They perform aarti by chanting the Vishnu Mantra like 'Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya' and seek his blessings.
4. Many devotees perform Nirjala Vrat, while some observe fruit-based fasting depending upon their capacity and health.
5. In the evening, devotees break their fast by praying to Lord Vishnu by chanting mantras and listening to Parama Ekadashi Vrat Katha.

Parama Ekadashi 2026: Vrat Katha
The most famous vrat katha associated with Parama Ekadashi is of a poor Brahmin named Sumedha and his devoted wife Pavitra.
Sumedha and his wife Pavitra were extremely poor due to some sins they committed in the past. Despite living in poverty, the couple had extreme devotion towards Lord Vishnu, and they never abandoned their values.
One day, a revered sage visited them. Sumedha and Pavitra welcomed the guest with respect and hospitality even when their own survival was difficult. Touched by their respect and humility, the sage advised them to observe fast on Parama Ekadashi. The only condition was that they needed to have complete faith and devotion.
The couple observed the fast very diligently and prayed to Lord Vishnu. During the day, they chanted mantras and immersed themselves in his devotion.
Being pleased with their devoutness, Lord Vishnu blessed them with abundance, happiness, and prosperity. All of their hardships came to an end after this.
This story is a reminder to mankind that faith, humility, patience, and righteous living can help you overcome even the most challenging situations.
