A tragic accident from Uttar Pradesh's Basti district has raised serious concerns regarding to the state of local healthcare services on Monday. As the Kundraha-Banhara Community Health Center (CHC) alleged medical negligence during childbirth resulted in the horrific death of a newborn.
A resident of Muradpur, Prema Devi, was seven months pregnant when she went into labor. Her family summoned a government ambulance to transport her to the Kudraha Community Health Center. Shortly before arriving at the hospital, the situation took a catastrophic turn. When the patient started experiencing, a female healthworker (ASHA worker) onboard the ambulance allegedly administered a labor-inducing injection attempted to perform the delivery while en route, without the presence of senior doctor or specialist.
Allegations Of Forced Natural Labor
According to the NDTV reports, the victim's husband, Neeraj Kumar stated that upon reaching the Community Health Center, the staff did not wait for specialist doctors. During the forceful delivery process, the infant's body was pulled out, but the head was severed and remained trapped inside the mother's womb.
Referrals And Emergency Surgery
Realising the severity of the botched procedure, the CHC staff allegedly tried to cover up the mistake by rushing the woman to a nearby private hospital. Recognising the critical condition of the patient, the private facility immediately referred her to the District Medical College, Kaili. Victim's medical tests and ultrasound reports revealed the horrific scenario.

At the medical college, doctors performed emergency surgery to remove the remains and save the mother's life.
Demand For Accountability
The victim's mother-in-law, Shakuntala Devi, has accused the medical staff of inhumane behavior and gross professional misconduct. The grieving family is demanding strict legal action against those responsible. Administrative authorities have reportedly initiated an investigation into the matter to determine the facts of the case.
