In a strange case, a bride from Uttar Pradesh's Agra on her wedding night demanded Rs 90 lakh from her husband when he attempted to lift her veil. The woman allegedly refused to establish any physical relations with her husband until he paid her the aforementioned amount.

The UP couple is identified as Gaurav and Kalpana and belongs to Agra. The two tied knots almost a year ago. However, the wedding did not last. Reports say that Gaurav's sister filed a complaint against Kalpana in the police station. Kalpana, with her brothers, also took all the jewellery of her wedding as well as the jewels of her mother-in-law, saying she wanted to wear them.

Kalpana repeatedly pressured Gaurav and his family to "willingly" give Rs 90 lakh to her father and brothers. In the first week of July, Kalpana left for her parents' home, issuing a threat to the effect of "Give Rs 90 lakh or be ready to die." She hasn't returned since. The bride's family has been allegedly threatening to burn Gaurav's family alive.

Rahul, Kalpana's brother, gave Muskan his father's bank account information on September 3 and told her to send the appropriate amount of money.

Endless Threats

On March 25, months later, Kalpana unexpectedly showed up at Gaurav's house with her father (Narendra), brothers (Vikas and Rahul), and a matchmaker (Munna master). They threatened to kill them, spat insults at the family, and locked them inside.

Gaurav was allegedly given two hours by Kalpana's family to make arrangements for Rs 90 lakh if he wanted to survive. Gaurav's father, Ummed Singh (67), is a heart patient and is also visually impaired. He too was subjected to humiliation and verbal abuse, with the perpetrators remarking that he ought to just die.

Accused Attempted To Burn House

The accused allegedly tampered with the piped natural gas (PNG) connection installed at the house to stage the incident as an accident.The family was eventually rescued with the assistance of the police.

The complainant has alleged that Kalpana and her family are often seen loitering around their house, issuing threats to instill fear inside the family members. The matchmaker, Munna Master, is said to have confessed to a foolproof plan to arrange the marriage specifically to extort money.

A case has been registered, and a police investigation is underway.
