TMC-Congress Merger News: Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) government formation in West Bengal, a wave of resignations within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has sparked speculation about its merger with the Congress. According to discussions in Delhi's political circles, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi herself made this offer to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.

Meanwhile, Derek O'Brien and Abhishek Banerjee also met with Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday morning. While there is no clarity over what was discussed between the two leaders, it is being speculated that Abhishek requested Rahul to send Mamata Banerjee To Rajya Sabha on Congress ticket.

With the TMC facing internal turbulence and a flurry of resignations, Mamata Banerjee is working to prevent further erosion of the party's strength. According to Jagran, at a recent INDIA bloc meeting, Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee reportedly held talks, fueling speculation that the Congress veteran proposed the merger during this meeting.

TMC Rebel Faction

Following the defeat in the recently concluded Bengal assembly election, TMC leaders rebelled. One after another, they are resigning from the party. They have formed a separate faction and called themselves the ‘real’ TMC.

Sushmita Dev Resigns

Trinamool Congress's Sushmita Dev resigned from her Rajya Sabha membership on Wednesday. This is the second resignation of a TMC MP this week. Most of the 80 Trinamool Congress MLAs have already formed a separate faction under the leadership of Ritabrata Banerjee, the leader of the opposition in the state assembly.

TMC MP Kirti Azad Responds To Merger Speculations

Senior TMC MP Kirti Azad responds to speculation surrounding a possible merger between the two parties. “I have no idea about it. Didi (Mamata Banerjee) will decide and let us know,” he said speaking to NDTV.
