'A Driver Can Even Attack CM': Tejashwi Yadav Takes Dig At Bihar Police Findings On EO Murder Probe

RJD leader and LoP in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary-led government. He raised questions over the investigation into the Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Executive Officer (EO) Vimal Kumar murder case, the state's law and order situation, and the government's overall functioning.

Demand For FIR Against MLA Sonu Singh

During a press conference, Yadav demanded that an FIR be registered against LJP (Ram Vilas) MLA Sonu Singh in connection with the murder of Dehri Executive Officer Vimal Kumar. He alleged that the entire government and police machinery was being used to shield the legislator. He also claimed that crime was on the rise in Bihar and that two government officers had been killed during the government's nearly 150-day tenure.

Questions Over Police Investigation

Questioning the investigation, Yadav asked how the Inspector General (IG) could declare the driver as the sole accused before the forensic science laboratory (FSL) examination and post-mortem report were available. He said the victim's family had named MLA Sonu and others, alleging their involvement and accusing them of demanding extortion money. However, he added that the police were not investigating those allegations.

Yadav also dismissed the police's theory that the driver committed the murder due to work pressure. Calling the argument "absurd," Yadav said that if excessive workload could lead to such a crime, then by the same logic, a driver could even attack the Chief Minister or anyone else.

Claims Of Multiple Attackers

He further claimed that the injuries found on Vimal’s body suggest the involvement of more than one attacker. He alleged that the driver had changed his statement several times, yet the police continued to rely on his version while carrying the investigation forward. Yadav also questioned the investigation process, alleging that the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) were not being followed.

Attack On CM Samrat

Targeting Choudhary,Yadav alleged that he had time to attend cultural programmes but not to meet the family of the slain officer. He further accused the government of corruption in postings and transfers. Yadav claimed that the state's law and order situation was deteriorating. He also referred to the Bharat Tiwari encounter and the Bunty Yadav case while questioning the government's functioning.

Remarks On Bypoll Results

Referring to the Bankipur Assembly by-election results, Yadav said his party respected the public mandate. He emphasised that the outcome reflected public anger against the BJP and the Chief Minister. He asserted that since Choudhary became Chief Minister, the BJP had lost two elections within 150 days, including one Legislative Council (MLC) election and one Assembly bypoll.
