Jagran Correspondent, Raxaul (East Champaran): The vigil of security agencies on the open India-Nepal border once again thwarted an attempt at illegal entry. In a joint operation by the Immigration Department and the Haraiya police station at the Raxaul international border, two foreign nationals were arrested while attempting to enter India without valid documents.
These included a Swiss woman and a young man from Myanmar. Following the incident, security agencies have tightened surveillance and checking along the border.

According to Jagran, the Immigration Department team was conducting a routine inspection near the Customs Chowk in the Haraiya police station area. As part of the increased vigilance at the India-Nepal border, the documents of people travelling to and from the border were being thoroughly checked.

Meanwhile, two foreign nationals were seen roaming under suspicious circumstances. The team stopped them, questioned them, and asked them to produce the necessary documents related to their entry into India.

During the investigation, both foreign nationals failed to produce valid visas, travel permits, and other necessary documents required for entry into India. Upon questioning, the woman was identified as Junila Thek Shrestha, a resident of Switzerland, and the young man was identified as Aung Naing Let, a resident of Yangon, Myanmar.

Both of them were immediately taken into custody after several necessary formalities were found missing during the scrutiny of documents.

The Immigration Department reported the matter to the Haraiya police station, after which both foreign nationals were brought to the police station and interrogated in detail. During the interrogation, information was gathered about their purpose of coming to India, their travel route, and their contacts.

However, during the preliminary investigation, both were unable to provide satisfactory answers, following which legal action was initiated against them. Harraiya Police Station Head Kishan Kumar Paswan stated that based on a written complaint from the Immigration Department, an FIR has been registered against both foreign nationals under relevant sections.

After completing the legal process, they were presented in court, where further action is being taken.

Security agencies are now investigating the purpose for which the two foreign nationals intended to enter India. They are also investigating whether they have any links to any international network or any suspicious activity. Investigating agencies are also examining their travel history, contacts, and routes to reach the border.

The Raxaul border is one of the most important international borders between India and Nepal, with thousands of people and vehicles crossing it daily. Security agencies are maintaining constant vigilance. In recent days, border checkpoints have been strengthened, and special operations are being conducted to curb illegal entry, smuggling, and other illegal activities.
