Samrat Choudhary Net Worth: Bihar is heading toward a political transition following the resignation of JD(U) president and senior leader CM Nitish Kumar from the post of Chief Minister. Kumar is now set to begin a new political chapter in the Rajya Sabha, marking the end of a 20-year-long tenure as Bihar’s CM.
With the change in leadership underway, the state deputy chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Samrat Choudhary, will replace his senior minister. He was elected as the BJP's Legislative Party Leader.
Nitish Kumar stepped down on Tuesday after meeting Bihar Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain and submitting his resignation letter. Later, he took to X, reflecting on his two decades in office and the work of his government.
As Samrat Choudhary prepares to assume a bigger responsibility, details from his election affidavit have come into focus, including his education, income, assets, and legal cases.
Samrat Choudhary: Educational Qualification & Income
Samrat Choudhary has declared his highest qualification as Doctor of Literature (Honorary), awarded by PFC, Kamaraj University.
As per his affidavit, his total income for the financial year 2024–25 is Rs 17,91,420. His wife’s income is listed at Rs 12,73,160. According to his election affidavit, ancestral Property valued at approximately Rs 8.20 crore.
Samrat Choudhary: Assets & Investments
The affidavit details movable and immovable assets owned by him and his family, including investments and personal holdings worth crores.
His investments include Rs 4.18 lakh in equity funds, Rs 5.23 lakh in HDFC Midcap Fund, and Rs 22.42 lakh in Nippon India Retirement Fund. He also has investments in postal savings schemes.

Among personal assets, he owns a Bolero vehicle worth Rs 7 lakh and an NP bore rifle. He and his wife jointly own 200 grams of gold jewellery.
His share in a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) is valued at Rs 4.27 lakh, while his two children hold movable assets worth Rs 41.4 lakh and Rs 26.8 lakh respectively.
Are there any criminal cases against Samrat Choudhary?
According to the affidavit, Samrat Choudhary has declared two cases against him, one registered at Kotwali police station in Patna and another at Tarapur police station. Both cases relate mainly to violations of prohibitory orders (Section 144) and the election code of conduct.
