Punjab Road Accident: In a tragic accident in Punjab, six people died and at least 25 others got injured after a bus carrying devotees overturned in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The officials stated that the bus met with the accident while returning from Anandpur Sahib, adding that the incident occurred near Himmatpura on the Morinda-Chunni road area at around 10 pm on Tuesday. They further stated that the devotees were returning from Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar district after attending the event on Baisakhi.
While the exact reason behind the accident is not known yet, the officials stated that the bus overturned on the road after some malfunction. While providing details, Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar stated that the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals, adding that many of them are now out of danger. They also asserted that a detailed probe has been launched into the matter.
Apart from this, Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Shubham Agarwal stated that the devotees had travelled to Anandpur Sahib to pay their respects on the occasion of Baisakhi. However, their vehicle reportedly developed a fault at around 9-10 pm, leading to the tragic accident. He further stated that the emergency teams reached the site soon after receiving information.
Shiromani Akali Dal MP and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has expressed grief over the accident. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she conveyed her condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
"Hearing the news of the death of 6 devotees due to the bus overturning of pilgrims coming from Sri Anandpur Sahib has caused immense grief. May Guru Sahib grant abode at His feet to the departed souls and bestow swift recovery upon the injured," Badal stated in her post.
