Lucknow Leads, Varanasi Ranks Second In Rooftop Solar Installations
As of June 9, solar panels have been successfully installed in 43,000 homes across Varanasi under the scheme, generating 145.30 megawatts of electricity. With this achievement, Varanasi holds the second position in the state.
Lukcnow currently ranks first, with solar plants installed in 108,056 homes, generating 373 megawatts of solar energy.
PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Breakdown Of Cost And Subsidy
The total cost of installing a solar panel up to two kilowatts under the scheme is approximately Rs 1.20 lakh. The financial burden on individuals is significantly eased by a combined subsidy structure, including Rs 60,000 from the central government and Rs 30,000 from the state government, requiring the consumer to cover only the remaining balance.
Furthermore, those opting for a larger three-kilowatt solar panel, the central and state governments have capped the maximum subsidy at Rs 1.08 lakh, making renewable energy more accessible than ever.
