Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed a conclave of NDA leaders in Delhi on becoming the longest-serving democratically elected PM. During his address, he listed achievements of his government and did not hold back while targeting Congress.

He said that for him, people are the gods, and his tenure as the longest-serving elected PM is an achievement of all NDA constituents.

"For me, people represent God," he said. Lashing out at the Congress, which ruled the nation for the longest time, he said that it threw the country into the abyss of corruption.

PM slams Congress rule

"Congress led India to a state of hopelessness through its misrule", the PM said, adding, "Congress threw India into the abyss of corruption."

The prime minister also said that the nation always remains above the party for the BJP. "For us (BJP), the nation is bigger than party; country comes first," PM Modi at NDA conclave.

While lauding the NDA government’s 12 years, he said that the biggest success of the NDA rule was that it freed the country from the Congress's "vicious trap".

"When the NDA won in 2014, I had said today there is a dawn of a new hope for the common person. After Congress's betrayal, people showed confidence in us. As an NDA family, we have strengthened the confidence that people have in us," Modi said.

PM pitches on political stability

Emphasising the need for a politically stable government, PM Modi said, "People of the country have understood the importance of political stability at the national level. It is their maturity that they gave me an opportunity to serve them for such a long time," Modi said.

"Many decades before 2014 were full of instability and upheavals, but people are now witnessing the work of a stable government and are admiring its decisiveness," he added.
