Noida Protest: Amid ongoing unrest and factory workers’ protests across Noida, incidents of violence were reported on Tuesday. A police team was allegedly attacked in Sector 121 during demonstrations linked to wage-related disputes involving domestic workers.
Domestic workers, including maids employed in nearby housing societies, gathered at Cleo County in Sector 121 on Tuesday, demanding higher wages and better working conditions, according to PTI.
A video from Cleo County has gone viral, showing a large gathering of domestic workers that turned tense during the protest. A social media user also claimed the agitation was a “planned action.”
The visuals show a large crowd, mostly women dressed in colourful sarees and suits, assembled outside the gated society. Protesters are seen crowding near the entrance, with some raising slogans while others filmed the scene on their phones. The footage also shows a shattered glass door at one of the buildings, indicating escalation. Police personnel in uniform, some carrying batons, are seen attempting to control the situation as they move through the crowd, according to a Free Press Journal report.

However, DCP Shaivya Goyal clarified that the viral video is being misrepresented and linked to multiple locations. She stated that the incident involves domestic workers demanding a wage hike and not factory workers, as claimed in some reports. She also said police were present at the spot and confirmed that the situation remained peaceful and under control.
During the protest, a reporter interacted with a domestic worker who said she would not return to work unless her salary was increased. She further warned that if any maid resumed work, they would be beaten, and also demanded four days off per week.
According to PTI, protesters allegedly surrounded the society and blocked entry and exit points. The situation escalated when parts of the property, including a glass entrance door, were damaged.
Separately, amid broader unrest in Noida, a police team was reportedly attacked in Sector 121 during protests related to wage disputes. Domestic workers from nearby housing societies had gathered to demand higher wages and improved working conditions, saying their earnings had not kept pace with rising living costs and alleging excessive workload and lack of leave. Many protesters said they would not resume work until their demands were met.

Meanwhile, a user identified as Shiva Mudgil, who claimed to be present at the site, alleged that the protest was pre-planned. She said certain vested interests had stopped domestic workers from reporting to work and also praised the local police response in handling the situation, calling it a “planned action.”
This is a planned protest. I was very much there. House helps were not allowed by some vested interest. @noidapolice hats off to you for dealing with this. https://t.co/RGHdEwbz7w

The unrest, part of wider factory workers’ protests, has disrupted parts of Noida since April 13, 2026, largely driven by demands for higher wages and improved working conditions. While the Uttar Pradesh government has announced an interim wage hike to ease tensions, the situation continues amid arrests and heavy police deployment.
