Noida Protests: Workers’ protests continued on Tuesday at the Hosiery Complex in Phase 2 of Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, even as the state government announced a wage hike for labourers.
A high-level committee set up by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved an interim increase of about 21 per cent in minimum wages for workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad. The decision follows large-scale protests in Noida Phase 2 by unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers across the state, and will come into effect from April 1.

The government noted that broader rules under the new labour codes are still in the process of being implemented.
This comes after a massive protest by workers in Noida Phase 2, which also turned violent following an altercation with the police.
