Noida Protest: The state government on Monday announced a wage hike for labourers, under which skilled workers in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar will earn Rs 3,288 more per month compared to March. For workers in other municipal corporations and districts across Uttar Pradesh, wages have been increased by at least Rs 1,335 per month.

The revision follows the decision of a high-level committee, headed by Industrial Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar, which categorised districts into three groups and fixed revised wages for unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers, including both basic pay and dearness allowance.

Factory Workers In Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, To Receive Highest Wages

According to a report by Jagran.com, a total of nine monthly interim wage rates have now been finalised under the revised framework. Under the new structures, factory workers in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar will receive the highest ages.

Workers in the state's 16 municipal corporation districts, including Lucknow, will earn around five per cent less, while those in the remaining 57 districts will receive wages that are a further five per cent lower.

Before the revision, the legally applicable minimum wages in Uttar Pradesh stood at roughly Rs 11,313 per month for unskilled workers, Rs 12,446 for semi-skilled workers, and Rs 13,940 for skilled workers.

As per the revised interim rates finalised by a high-level committee following violent protests in Noida, wages will rise from April across categories.

In Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, the wages of unskilled workers have been increased by Rs 2,669, semi-skilled workers by Rs 2,936, and skilled workers by Rs 3,288 compared to March levels. Accordingly, wages for unskilled workers in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar will now be Rs 13,690, semi-skilled workers Rs 15,059, and skilled workers Rs 16,868.

In other municipal corporation districts, including Lucknow, the wages of unskilled workers have been increased by Rs 1,985, semi-skilled workers by Rs 2,183 and skilled workers by Rs 2,445. Accordingly, monthly wages for unskilled workers have been revised to Rs 13,006, semi-skilled workers to Rs 14,306, and skilled workers to Rs 16,025.

Similarly, in the remaining districts, the wages of unskilled workers have been increased by Rs 1,335, semi-skilled workers by Rs 1,468 and skilled workers by Rs 1,644. Accordingly, wages have been increased to Rs 12,356 for unskilled workers, Rs 13,591 for semi-skilled workers, and Rs 15,224 for skilled workers.

Wages Of Workers In Brick Kiln Industry

- Pathera (brick-making labourers) will now receive Rs 719 per thousand bricks.

- Filling workers will be paid between Rs 217 and Rs 260 per thousand bricks.

- Workers engaged in brick extraction will now receive Rs 217 per thousand bricks.
