The India Meteorological Department has placed Mumbai under a yellow alert for April 15-16 as temperatures rise significantly, with "hot and humid conditions predicted in isolated areas".
According to the regional weather bulletin issued on April 13, the IMD reports that Mumbai will experience temperatures of 25 to 34 degrees Celsius from April 14 to April 15. On Monday, the maximum temperature recorded at Santa Cruz was 32.8 degrees Celsius, which is 0.6 degrees Celsius below the normal temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius, while Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 33.7 degrees Celsius, or 0.9 degrees Celsius above the normal range of 32.8 degrees Celsius.

Yellow alerts have been issued for the following regions, identifying potential for extreme temperatures:
- Palghar
- Thane
- Raigad
- Ratnagiri
- Sindhudurg
Moreover, there will be a possibility of heatwave conditions from April 15 to April 16, not only in these respective regions but also for Sangli and Solapur.
From April 14 to April 18, temperatures throughout the Konkan and Goa region are most likely to reach or exceed two to three degrees Celsius each day. On a similar note, the same trend for increasing temperatures is expected across most parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, with many areas expecting daytime highs between 40 degrees Celsius and 43 degrees Celsius.
During this period, isolated heatwave conditions are anticipated across most of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
Health officials have identified potential health-related issues related to extreme temperatures, including:
- Heat cramps
- Skin rashes
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Excessive perspiration, especially in the peak hours during the afternoon sun
Residents of these regions have been advised to:
- Avoid the direct sunlight
- Stay adequately hydrated
- Wear light cotton clothing
- Use protective equipment (eg, umbrella, hat) while outdoors
In addition, the City of Santa Cruz and its surrounding municipalities have encouraged outdoor workers to reschedule strenuous work to cooler times of day and take frequent breaks to decrease the chances of suffering from heat-related illnesses.
