MP Rajya Sabha Election: A huge political drama unfolded in Madhya Pradesh after nomination papers of Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Meenakshi Natarajan got cancelled on Tuesday. The Election Commission rejected her nomination as she failed to disclose information about a court case in Hyderabad in her affidavit. The Congress leaders staged a massive protest in Bhopal, stating that the FIR was not filed against Natarajan. However, the BJP leaders have claimed that the information about the case was passed on by Congress leaders, further escalating the issue.

A huge row erupted after senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya claimed that the Congress leaders helped the BJP in the whole scenario. "We're receiving all the documents from Telangana, where the Congress government itself is in power. Surely, it must be Congress people who delivered these papers to us," the former cabinet minister was quoted as saying by Jagran. His remarks have again highlighted the reported internal conflict in Congress in Madhya Pradesh.

While speaking on the matter, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that it is mandatory for the candidates to disclose the pending cases in their affidavit. "The Congress candidate's deliberate concealment of information falls under the purview of the crime of concealing a criminal record. In fact, if there are any pending criminal cases in any court, it is mandatory to disclose them in the affidavit," CM Yadav stated.

Earlier, the Congress had planned to shift their 61 MLAs to Bengaluru after the BJP fielded a third candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls despite lacking the required numbers. Jitu Patwari, the state Congress chief, alleged that the ruling party was attempting horse trading in the election. However, the BJP stated that the Congress leaders were blaming the BJP for their own lack of unity and vision.
