In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli district, a woman and her husband allegedly strangled her lover with a saree and buried his body inside the floor of their house. After the body remained hidden for several days, a foul smell began emanating from the house, eventually leading to the gruesome discovery.
The woman, identified as Rita, had married Ram Prakash in 2016. The couple, residents of Bhadokhar, had two sons together. However, after a dispute with her husband in 2020, Rita moved back to her maternal home, reported NDTV.
During this period, she developed a close relationship with Amit Raidas. Following the deaths of her brothers, Rita was left living alone in the house, and Amit eventually moved in with her. The two also had a three-year-old daughter together.
According to the police, Rita had recently started reconciling with her husband, Ram Prakash, who began visiting her house again.
On the midnight of July 29, Amit Raidas was present at Rita’s house when Ram Prakash arrived. An argument reportedly broke out between the two men.

Police said that Ram Prakash and Rita allegedly conspired to kill Amit and strangled him using Rita’s saree. After the murder, they buried his body inside the house.
A few days later, a foul odour began spreading from the house, raising suspicion among villagers. Overcome by fear, Rita reportedly confessed to the village head, who then informed the police.
Police officers soon reached the spot, dug up the floor inside the house, and recovered Amit’s body.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have taken Rita into custody, while a search is underway for her husband, Ram Prakash. Police officials are continuing to examine other aspects of the case to determine the exact motive behind the alleged killing.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Ranjeet Raidas.
