Karnataka Cabinet Expansion: The long-awaited expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet is expected to take place on Monday as preparations enter the final stages. Following high-level meetings, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has prepared a list of ministers. While senior party leaders have already held discussions with Rahul Gandhi on the proposed expansion, the Congress high command has yet to give its formal approval.

CM Shivakumar Prepares List Of 20 MLAs; High Command Decision Awaited

The Chief Minister has prepared a tentative list of 20 legislators for induction into the cabinet. The list has been submitted to party leadership, which is expected to take the final call after another round of discussions, news agency IANS reported.

Venugopal, Surjewala To Arrive In Bengaluru With High Command-Approved List

Congress General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala are expected to arrive in Bengaluru by Monday noon with the high command-approved list of ministers. Their visit is likely to clear the decks for the official announcement of the new ministers and the schedule of the swearing-in ceremony.

Preparations Underway For Oath-Taking Ceremony

The oath-taking ceremony is expected to take place on Monday evening at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan. While the government is yet to announce the timing, preparations are already underway following oral directions from the Chief Minister.

This expansion carries political significance as it comes two months after DK Shivakumar took charge as Chief Minister. His 14-member Council of Ministers was sworn in on June 3, leaving 20 ministerial berths vacant.

According to IANS sources, 18 of the 20 vacant berths are expected to be filled in this round, while two positions may be kept vacant for future political and organisational considerations.
