Kanwar Yatra: Gautam Buddha Nagar Enforces Traffic Curbs, Deploys AI Cameras And 30 Drones Till August 11 | Details

During the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, Gautam Buddha Nagar Police have deployed an extensive surveillance network, including AI-powered CCTV cameras, IP cameras and drones, to enhance security and monitor the movement of pilgrims. Authorities will also use the AI-enabled system to estimate the number of Kanwariyas passing through the district.

As part of the security arrangements, 30 drones, including advanced tethered drones capable of monitoring areas within an 8-10 km radius, have been deployed for aerial surveillance. Flower showers have also been planned at designated points along the Kanwar route to welcome devotees.

14 Kanwar Routes, 2,500 Personnel Deployed

The district has identified 14 Kanwar routes covering a total distance of 334 km. To ensure smooth conduct of the yatra, the Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate has divided the area into 20 zones and 60 sectors, with around 2,500 police personnel deployed across the routes.

Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh said nearly 3,000 CCTV cameras, including AI-enabled surveillance systems, have been installed along the Kanwar routes. Besides enhancing security, these cameras will help estimate the number of pilgrims moving through the district. Traffic and law enforcement personnel are also monitoring the routes round the clock from an integrated control room.

Security Review At Kanwar Camps

Senior police officers from all three divisions of the Commissionerate are conducting regular inspections of the Kanwar routes and camps. They are reviewing security arrangements, monitoring facilities for devotees, and instructing personnel to remain vigilant, manage traffic effectively and closely monitor all activities.

Traffic Diversions In Place Till August 11

The Gautam Buddha Nagar Traffic Police has implemented a special traffic management plan for the yatra. DCP (Traffic) Abhay Kumar Mishra said heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city until August 11, while restrictions will also apply to light commercial vehicles.

Heavy, medium and light goods vehicles travelling from Ghaziabad towards Bulandshahr, Hapur and Moradabad have been diverted via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to ensure the safe movement of Kanwariyas.
