Jagran Correspondent, Kanpur: In a major update for the residents of Kanpur, the Bridge Corporation has decided to build a new bridge parallel to the Tatmil-Ghantaghar (Harisganj) railway overbridge. As per the reports, the authority has already submitted a detailed project report (DPR) for the bridge's construction. The authority decided to build the new bridge at a cost of Rs 424 crore, considering the deteriorating condition of the nearly 98-year-old Harrisganj bridge.

As per the reports, thousands of small and large vehicles pass through the old bridge on a daily basis. It connects several key sites of the city, including the railway station, Clock Tower, Collectorganj, Nayaganj, Birhana Road, Mall Road, Express Road, and Cantt. The reports suggest that this bridge remains under heavy pressure throughout the day.
