Hyderabad Weather: Commuters in Hyderabad's IT corridor faced severe disruptions on Tuesday evening after heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds triggered severe traffic congestion and widespread waterlogging.
Key areas, including Gachibowli, Madhapur, Kondapur, Raidurgam, and the Financial District, received heavy rainfall that lasted for nearly an hour. Several roads were inundated during peak office hours, affecting thousands of commuters heading home from work.
Heavy Rain Triggers Waterlogging, Congestion Across IT Hub
According to a report by News18, heavy rain led to significant water accumulation on several roads, leaving vehicles stranded along waterlogged stretches. Traffic came to a near standstill at key junctions, including the IKEA flyover, resulting in long queues of vehicles.
Severe congestion was reported in Hitech City, Gachibowli, Kondapur and Madhapur, with traffic delays continuing late into the night. Some commuters alleged that inadequate traffic management on several stretches added to the delays.
Two Die Of Electrocution
At least two individuals died after allegedly being electrocuted in separate incidents. The victims have been identified as a 30-year-old auto-rickshaw driver and a 15-year-old Class 9 student.
According to police, both victims came into contact with live electric wires that had fallen on the road after heavy rain and strong winds.
