Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several regions of the western states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. As per the weather department, a low-pressure system prevailing over the Comorin Sea and nearby regions is likely to cause rainfall for the next five days. The continuous rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing relief from the scorching heat.

The weather department predicts light to heavy rainfall in several regions of Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra in the upcoming days. Along with rain, these regions are also expected to receive thunderstorms and lightning. However, the continuous rainfall is also likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, which will cause inconveniences, especially for the farmers.

"Current weather conditions do not indicate satisfactory and widespread rainfall across the state. Farmers should not undertake sowing operations merely on the basis of forecast thunderstorm activity and isolated rainfall. The maximum temperatures are likely to remain high in several regions until at least June 12," the advisory said.

The IMD stated that several districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nashik, and Ahmednagar, are likely to witness rainfall for the next five days. While the maximum temperature in Mumbai is likely to be calculated at 32 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 28 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has also advised the farmers to closely monitor the updates and prepare accordingly. "Farmers should closely monitor weather forecasts and wait for sustained and widespread rainfall before beginning sowing operations to avoid potential crop losses," it added.

The IMD has also stated that along with these states, several coastal regions of the southern states, including Karnataka, Kerala, and Telangana, are set to witness rainfall in the upcoming days.
