Haryana SIR: Gurugram Records Over 1.79 Lakh Voter Deletions; CM, Ministers' Constituencies Also Affected

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana has triggered a political debate, with the Congress, other Opposition parties and even BJP leaders raising concerns over the voter verification process. The exercise has revealed large-scale deletions from electoral rolls, including in constituencies represented by state ministers and MLAs.

According to officials, thousands of voters could not be traced by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during door-to-door verification. Many were found to have shifted their residences, while several names belonged to deceased persons who were still listed in the electoral rolls.

Gurugram Records Highest Number Of Voter Deletions

The Gurugram Assembly constituency recorded the highest number of deletions in the state, with 1,79,198 voters found missing from their registered addresses.

Among the constituencies represented by ministers, the maximum number of deletions were in Badshahpur (held by State Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh) with 1,76,050 names deleted.

Nearly 99,000 Names Deleted In Tigaon

The Tigaon Assembly constituency in Faridabad district, represented by State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rajesh Nagar, ranked second among ministerial constituencies. Around 99,847 names were deleted from the voter list for various reasons.

Faridabad Assembly constituency, represented by Revenue and Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel, ranked third with a total of 97,483 names deleted following verification.

In Tosham, from the constituency of Irrigation Minister Shruti Choudhry, 14,766 names were removed from the voter list.

CM Nayab Saini's Constituency Also Affected

Voter omissions were also observed in Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s Ladwa Assembly constituency (in Kurukshetra district), with 18,521 names deleted from the draft voter list.

Election officials further said the draft list is being recompiled in preparation for the election process. Objections to the draft list are being accepted while registered voters, whose names have been missed out, may submit Form 6, claiming insertion.

The massive deletion of voters across major constituencies, which has been the hallmark of the SIR exercise, has come under sharp focus, and political parties are calling for transparency in finalising the electoral rolls.
