'Can Ignore Challans Now'
The video clip shared across platforms and later reposted on X by a user named @IndianTechGuide, said that the AI-enabled display had been installed and activated in Gurgaon as of now. Text overlaid on the clip read, “Gurgaon now you can’t ignore challans", while another line stated, “Haryana first smart traffic warning screen goes live in Gurgaon."
As per the video which went viral, the system supposed can identify vehicles passing through an intersection and instantly display information related to pending challans. Another message in the clip read, “This smart screen will now display pending challan information of vehicles passing by in real time."
The footage demonstrated multiple examples of how the screen works. In one instance, a vehicle’s registration number appeared on the display along with a warning that read, “Passing Sohna Chowk right now, your PUCC has expired." Another vehicle was shown with the message, “Passing Sohna Chowk right now has no challans."
The video then displayed cases involving pending fines. One screen message read, “Passing Sohna Chowk right now has 21 challans of 48500 rs pending", while another stated, “Passing Sohna Chowk right now has 9 challans of 19500 rs pending."
How Did Netizens React?
The viral video quickly gained multiple reactions on social media. While some praised the initiative as a deterrent against traffic violations, others questioned whether such technology addressed larger civic issues or created unnecessary distractions.
“Now, people in India will break the rules to get their numbers on the screen. Instagram Reel " said a netizen.
A second user said, “Better to put AI on traffic signal management. This is a distraction while driving. To make it balance from both sides also show the names and photos of govt personnel who has been caught while taking bribes ! Poor citizen always shown with bad face not officials."
A third user said, “ How about they display the real net worth and black money of our politicians, maybe their cars and properties, for grateful citizens to see how great their rulers are?”.
Someone said, “ Can we expect potholes and bad roads AI detection system? It is already implemented in jaipur rajasthan.... initially started in some major red lights".
