In a chilling incident raising concerns over the passenger security inside the train, armed criminals on Wednesday held two passengers at gunpoint on a moving Sampark Kranti Express. They robbed them of Rs 7 lakh in broad daylight. The accused then escaped after opening fire in the air and jumped off the train.

According to a report by Jagran.com, Mandeep Singh, a resident of Uttarakhand's Rudrapur, runs an auto spare parts shop in the city.

Hrithik Mandal and Sahab Singh work at his shop. At around 10 AM on Wednesday, the two employees were travelling to Delhi on the Sampark Kranti Express, carrying cash totalling approximately seven lakh rupees. As the train passed through Bilaspur, three miscreants held the two employees at gunpoint and robbed them of their bags containing the money.

After that, the criminals jumped from the slow-moving train, firing into the air. The servants informed the businessman about the incident and also informed the police.

The RPF and GRP arrived at the scene from Rudrapur and Rampur. Police accompanied the victims to the spot and inspected the scene. The teams also conducted a combing operation in the forest. However, no trace of the perpetrators has been found yet.

In another incident on Wednesday morning in the Dehat Kotwali area of Hardoi near Korria railway crossing, a 22-year-old woman, named Shashi, was hit by the Bareilly–Prayagraj Express, resulting in both her legs being severed.

After receiving information about the incident, Dehat Kotwal Harinath Yadav reached the spot with his team and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) team.

He immediately wrapped the injured woman in a towel and sent her by ambulance to the medical college.

Shashi was given first aid at the medical college. However, due to her critical condition, she was referred to Lucknow for better treatment.
