Gujarat Weather: Ahmedabad, Surat To See Thunderstorms, Rain Today; Navsari, Valsad, Rajkot, Jamnagar On Alert

Gujarat Weather: Gujarat has been witnessing heavy rains for the last two days and similar weather conditions are likely in scattered places on Sunday as well. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the 'well-marked low-pressure' and cyclonic circulation formed in south-east Rajasthan and its surrounding areas, the cloud cover will prevail in the state. During the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rains with thunderstorms are likely in most parts of Gujarat with winds gusting to 40 to 50 kmph. On Sunday, there is a possibility of moderate rain in districts including Banaskantha and Mehsana.

According to the Meteorological Department, the low-pressure area over southeast Rajasthan is currently extending up to a height of 7.6 km above sea level and is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken in the next 24 hours. The monsoon trough is currently extending from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan's low-pressure centre, Banda, Dehri, Malda to Manipur. In addition, an off-shore trough is also active from south Gujarat to Kerala, which is further strengthening the rainy conditions.

Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Morbi and Kutch districts may receive heavy rain. While Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad districts are on alert for moderate rain at scattered places on Sunday.

During this period, light to moderate rain may occur at scattered places in Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Kutch districts.
