Jagran Correspondent, Delhi: In a major update for the residents of Delhi, the authority has commenced the work to rebuild the Lal Kuan-Rampyari Camp main road in the Tughlakabad assembly constituency. As per the reports, a drain will be built along the two-kilometer stretch between MB Road and Surajkund Road. The residents of Lal Kuan, Rampyari Camp, and other nearby regions faced several inconveniences due to waterlogging during the monsoon season.

The reports suggest that several slums along the main road remained submerged for weeks due to the lack of proper drainage. Once completed, the project is expected to provide relief to thousands of residents by cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion. While providing details, Tughlakabad MLA Sahiram Pehalwan stated that the Delhi government has approved a total of Rs 4.96 crore for this project.

He further stated that the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has already begun work, adding that the project will significantly boost the regional connectivity. As per the officials, the residents will no longer suffer during the monsoon once the construction of the drain is completed. The project is likely to directly benefit at least 30,000 people residing in the nearby regions.

The monsoon is likely to hit the national capital in the next two to three days. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature. However, the continuous rainfall also leads to severe waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconvenience to the locals and the daily commuters.
