Jagran Correspondent, Bhilai: The district administration of Durg has directed that the residents of selected villages in Durg will not be able to buy or sell their lands until the next order is released. The decision has been taken to ensure smooth and uninterrupted construction of the ambitious East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor (Dankuni-Surat Rail Transport Route) in Durg. As per the latest order, any commercial use or transfer of land in the identified areas will be immediately prohibited.
As per the latest order, a total of 25 villages from three major tehsils of Durg District, Durg, Patan, and Bhilai, have been included in this special restrictive zone. The commercial transaction of land has been restricted in several villages of the Durg region, including Birejhar, Changori, Konari, Chandkhuri, Hanoda, Khamharia, Umarpoti, Utai, and Dumardih.

Apart from this, a similar order has also been passed in villages of Patan tehsil such as Parewadih, Pahador, Aundhi, Magarghata, Bendri, Nardhi, Mahkakala, Mahkakhurd, Kuruddih, and Batang. As per the senior officials, the main objective of this revised measure is to ensure that the ownership status of the lands falling in the main route of the rail corridor project is completely protected.
As per the reports, the land mafia or locals start illegally dividing the land to earn undue profits after the announcement of any major project. The authorities later face several legal hurdles due to these activities, leading to the delay in the project. The villagers have been asked to follow the guidelines and stay updated to avoid any inconveniences.
The administration has assured that along with providing conveniences to the railways during the land acquisition process, the latest measure will also ensure that the genuine rights of the landowners are protected. It further assured that the landowners will get sufficient compensation for their lands, further asking the villagers to avoid the rumors.
