Patna Police Special Unit (DIU) conducted a series of raids and seized brown sugar, heroin, and smack worth a total of Rs 22 crore within a week, busting a syndicate being run as a family business by a couple and two brothers-in-law.
Drugs worth over Rs 50 crore have been seized from this network so far. The masterminds of this entire international drug racket are Santosh Sao and his wife, Rekha Devi. They have been supplying dry drugs in Patna for quite some time.
Precise intel exposes syndicate
The dismantling of this vast network began on the night of June 3, when sub-inspector Jaya Kumari received precise input about the syndicate. She assembled the DIU team and the Sampatchak Circle Officer and surrounded Santosh Sao's house.
Police raided Santosh Sao's home and recovered 5.815 kg of heroin and 815 grams of brown sugar, estimated to be worth Rs 7 crore in the international market. They also seized Rs 18,66,110 in cash, weapons, ammunition, and a Scorpio vehicle.
Later, during a raid in Gopalpur (Beimaan Tola) of Phulwari Sharif, the police had arrested Santosh Sao's brother-in-law, Krishna Kumar Ram, red-handed.

During interrogation, Krishna Kumar confessed that his sister Rekha and brother-in-law Santosh run the entire network together. He revealed that he received a daily wage of Rs 8,000 for the delivery and maintenance of goods for the syndicate.
Following a lead in Gopalpur, the Patna SSP's special team, the DIU, and a magistrate raided a secret hideout near Soranpur Devi Sthan in Ramakrishna Nagar late on Tuesday night. Police had received information that a large quantity of smack was to be supplied from there to Patna.
In Soranpur, Chintu alias Chhotu and Monu were arrested on the spot. A pistol, a Bullet bike, heroin, smack, and brown sugar worth Rs 15 crore were seized from them.
In addition to that, 11 litres of country liquor, 11 live cartridges, and three mobile phones were also recovered from them. The DIU team is interrogating them to identify other buyers and suppliers in this network.
Several police teams are raiding possible hideouts to arrest the kingpin of this syndicate, Santosh Sao, his wife Rekha Devi and their associate Seema Kumari.
Interstate procurement, stolen car
During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang used a stolen Scorpio car to evade police checks. The gang had links to Mughalsarai and Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, from where large quantities of drugs were bought.
The drug consignments were brought to Patna via Buxar, and after making small packets (doses), it was supplied to school and college students and youth in the urban and rural areas of Patna.
