Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday distributed the portfolios among himself and two deputy CMs, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, after a major political reshuffle in the state, with him becoming the first-ever BJP leader to assume the office.
Choudhary has allocated portfolios among the new ministers in the state. He has kept 29 departments, including Home, Agriculture, Health, Tourism, Art and Culture and Sports, for himself.
Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has 10 departments, including Water Resources, Minority Welfare, Education, Higher Education, Transport and Rural Development.
Another Deputy CM of the state, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, has been allotted 8 departments, including Energy and Finance.
In the first list of portfolio allocation, the responsibilities of the key departments were distributed among the CM and Deputy CMs. Further allocations will take place after the MLAs, who will be elevated to the rank of ministers, take the oath of office and secrecy.

Samrat's emergence to the top post in the government came with the end of Nitish's era after 20 years. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power in 2005 under Nitish Kumar's leadership.
During the course of over 20 years, Nitish switched sides and joined the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan twice but eventually returned to the NDA.
He announced his intention to leave state politics with a desire to become a member of the Rajya Sabha, of which he never became a member. Nitish won the Rajya Sabha last month along with BJP national president Nitin Nabin and later resigned as the Bihar CM.
