In a fresh affidavit before the Delhi High Court, former Delhi chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal has again sought the removal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma from hearing the CBI's plea against his discharge in the liquor policy case. The senior AAP leader stated that Justice Sharma's children are associated with the Centre, adding that they are allocated cases by Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, the senior lawyer representing the central agency.
A day after Justice Sharma reserved her verdict on the case, Kejriwal, in his additional affidavit, stated that her son is empanelled as a Group A counsel. Apart from this, the AAP leader also pointed out that her daughter is also listed as a Group C counsel representing the Centre before the top court. He further asserted that she is assigned cases by SG Mehta and also represents the Centre in the Delhi High Court.

Kejriwal further stated that the issue cannot be overlooked, as the judge's children are assigned cases by the councillor representing the central agencies against him. "I respectfully state that this gives rise to a direct and serious appearance of conflict of interest. The very law officer and legal establishment representing the prosecuting side before this Hon'ble Court is also part of the institutional mechanism by which Central Government cases and Government work are allocated to the immediate family members of the Hon’ble Judge hearing the matter," the affidavit from Kejriwal stated.
"But in a criminal case of this nature, where the prosecuting agency is the CBI, where the Central Government’s highest law officers appear against me, and where the immediate family members of the Hon’ble Judge hold multiple live Central Government panel engagements and receive Government work through the same legal establishment and law officer, the apprehension becomes direct, grave and impossible for me to ignore," the affidavit added.
Earlier, Kejriwal pointed out that Justice Sharma also attended the programs organised by the groups associated with the BJP and RSS.
