Kurnool Road Accident: At least eight were killed, and 10-12 others were injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a lorry in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district. The incident occurred near Chilakaladona in the Mantralayam mandal of the district.

Vehicle Carrying Pilgrims Collides With Lorry In Kurnool

According to an NDTV report, a small pick-up truck carrying devotees to the Sri Raghavendra Swamy Matha in Mantralayam collided with a truck approaching from the opposite direction. At the time of the accident, 21 people were travelling in the vehicle.

The impact was so severe that five victims died at the scene, while others later succumbed to their injuries. The deceased, identified as pilgrims from Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru region, include five women, two men, and a three-year-old girl.

The injured were immediately rushed to Emmiganur Hospital for treatment, news agency ANI reported. 

According to the police, the truck was travelling from Bidar towards Tumakuru, while the vehicle carrying pilgrims was heading towards Mantralayam for darshan.

Soon after receiving the information, police personnel rushed to the site to carry out rescue and relief operations. The bodies of the victims have been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered in connection with the case, and the police are investigating the exact cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.

13 Killed, 30 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Collision In Katihar

At least 13 people were killed, and 30 others were injured following a collision involving a bus, a truck, and a pickup van in Bihar's Katihar district on Saturday evening. According to the police, the road accident took place at 6:30 PM on NH-31 in Kodha block of Katihar, Superintendent of Police Shikhar Choudhary said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences over the incident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased, and Rs 50,000 to each injured.
