Dhurandhar Movie Review: Legendary actor Prem Chopra has offered his insights on the massive success of the Dhurandhar franchise. In a recent discussion about the industry's move from emotional storytelling to violent, large-scale spectacles, Chopra praised the Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna starrer for its ability to bring audiences back to the big screen.

Reflecting on the era of stars like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan compared to modern cinema, Prem Chopra noted that filmmakers today are simply following current market trends. Speaking to Vickey Lalwani, Prem Chopra stated, “It was good, but it was too lengthy. But it worked because people accepted it in a big way after a long time, audiences returned to theatres.”

When asked if he would have altered the film's intense tone if he were in the director's chair, the veteran actor admitted that commercial success often dictates creative choices. He shared, “Cinema is commercial. I would have made the film according to the trend being accepted. But yes, I would have suggested going slow on the abuse and such things.”

Prem Chopra Praises Ranveer Singh And Akshaye Khanna

Prem Chopra also took the time to commend the lead actors for their powerful screen presence. He recalled seeing a young Ranveer Singh during his early days in the industry, long before he became a superstar. Prem Chopra shared, “I used to see Ranveer Singh at a club, he was trying to get a break. I was amazed to see him perform. It’s difficult to say who was better because everybody had their role and everybody tried to perform their best.”

Regarding Akshaye Khanna’s impact on the audience, Prem Chopra noted that his character had a particular charm that resonated with the masses. He also highlighted Ranveer’s growth in the sequel, Dhurandhar The Revenge, noting, “His role was more towards the audience, playing to the gallery, so the acceptance was higher. I believe in the second part of Dhurandhar, Ranveer has done a wonderful job.”

The franchise has officially become a historic phenomenon in Indian cinema. With the release of the second part, the series has crossed the monumental Rs 3,000 crore mark at the worldwide box office. This achievement makes it the first Indian film series to reach such a milestone, surpassing legendary franchises like Baahubali, KGF, and Pushpa. According to industry trackers, the combined global collection currently stands at over Rs 3,019 crore, cementing its place as the highest-grossing Indian franchise of all time.
