Alpha Teaser Out: The highly anticipated teaser for Yash Raj Films’ upcoming spy thriller Alpha has finally dropped, but it is already stirring up major controversy online. While fans are thrilled to see the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, many film enthusiasts have noticed a striking resemblance to older global cinema classics. Specifically, social media users are accusing the makers of lifting a pivotal scene directly from the 1990 French action classic La Femme Nikita, directed by Luc Besson.

Netizens Accuse Alia Bhatt’s Alpha Teaser Of Copying French Classic La Femme Nikita

In the newly released Alpha teaser, Bobby Deol’s character takes a young girl (the younger version of the protagonist played by Alia Bhatt) to a fancy restaurant. It is her 18th birthday, and she believes they are there to celebrate. However, the mood quickly shifts when he hands her a card with a room number and reveals that it is time for her first official mission and her first kill.

Internet users immediately pointed out that this sequence is nearly identical to a famous scene in La Femme Nikita. In the French film, the handler, Bob, takes the trained assassin Nikita to an upscale restaurant for a special dinner. Just like in Alpha, he surprises her by handing her a gun and instructing her to assassinate targets right there in the building.

Social media has been flooded with comparisons, with one user noting, "BBNG notes a copied scene from #Alpha Teaser . Operative word is “loosely copied” The opening scene is loosely copied from the scene in Luc Besson's action classic La Femme Nikita starring Anne Parillaud and Tcheky Karyo." Another disappointed fan wrote, “The opening scene is copied 90% from the scene in Luc Besson's action classic LA FEMME... The Plot is also similar... #Alpha.”

The allegations do not stop with the restaurant sequence. Film buffs have also pointed out that the dialogue in the teaser feels unoriginal. The wolf-and-sheep analogy used by Bobby Deol’s character to describe predators and prey has drawn heavy comparisons to Clint Eastwood's 2014 Hollywood biographical drama American Sniper. A critic on social media posted, "Alpha didn't copy #AmericanSniper; it just got a little too inspired by it. Maybe YRF should hunt for fresh talent instead of familiar dialogue. And despite Bobby Deol's cover fire, the girl playing young #Aliabatt looks more convincing than the star herself. #YRFSpyUniverse."
