CBSE 10th Toppers List 2026: Why Official Ranks Are Not Released?

In a continued effort to prioritise student mental health, CBSE does not officially release a toppers list or an overall merit list. This policy, in place since 2020, is designed to avoid unhealthy competition and academic pressure among young learners. Instead of a public ranking, the board recognises excellence by awarding merit certificates to the top 0.1% of students who secure the highest marks in specific subjects.

Understanding Passing Marks and the 9-Point Grading System:

To qualify, Class 10 students must secure a minimum of 33% marks. Unlike Class 12, this 33% is a combined requirement of both the theory paper and the internal assessment or practical marks. For a standard 100-mark subject, a total of 33 marks across both components is necessary to pass.

The board utilises a 9-point grading system, where A1 represents the top 1/8th of passed candidates, descending to 'E' for those required to take an Essential Repeat.

Region-Wise Pass Percentage and 2026 Statistics

Once the results are declared, the board will release comprehensive statistics related to the CBSE 2026 results, including the overall and region-wise pass percentages. While we wait for the 2026 data, historically, regions like Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Bengaluru have led the charts with pass percentages exceeding 98%.

Over 25 lakh students are advised to keep their admit cards ready to check their specific regional performance as soon as the NTA and CBSE activate the official login servers.
