WATCH: MS Dhoni Mentors Rishabh Pant For Sri Lanka Test Series

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has started preparing for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, with former captain MS Dhoni guiding him during a training session in Ranchi.

India will start their two-Test match series against Sri Lanka on August 15, and Pant is expected to play a key role in the middle order. With Sri Lankan pitches likely to assist spin bowlers, the southpaw has begun working on his game well before the series.

Pant travelled to Ranchi, where he trained with Dhoni and former India spinner Shahbaz Nadeem. Pant's training with MS Dhoni was behind closed doors, but several videos shared on social media showed Pant and Dhoni leaving the former India captain’s farmhouse together. Here is the clip.

The Sri Lanka series is an important one for Pant after he struggled to make an impact in India’s recent home Test series against South Africa. As India prepare for the challenge of playing on turning tracks, Pant will be hoping the time spent with Dhoni helps him improve his approach against spin.

Dhoni’s experience in subcontinent conditions makes him one of the best people to learn from. Over the years, Pant has often turned to the legendary wicketkeeper for advice, and the two continue to share a strong relationship.

Pant has also been working on his limited-overs batting in recent weeks with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. By training with two of India’s most experienced cricketers, the wicketkeeper-batter is looking to regain his best form before a busy international season.
