CSK vs KKR IPL 2026: Ex-India opener Virender Sehwag has sent a stern reminder to Kolkata Knight Riders post losing their IPL 2026 match to Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on Tuesday, and has requested them to admit to the mistakes that they made during the auction by roping in Australia's all-rounder Cameron Green for a whopping amount of Rs 25.20 crore. Green got out on a duck against CSK.

He had become the most expensive player in the history of the tournament when the Kolkata-based franchise had spent almost one-third of their purse to buy him during the auction. But after playing in five matches so far, he has scored just 56 runs and taken one wicket, having not bowled in their first three matches while recovering from a back injury.

During an interaction on Cricbuzz, Sehwag had requested the Ajinkya Rahane-led side to admit to their mistakes and snub Green from their playing XI for the next match. He made these statements after KKR lost their fourth consecutive match this year.

“If you had that much money and still bought these players, spending ₹25-27 crore on Cameron Green, then now he has become a liability. If you play him, he is not performing. If you don’t play him, people will question why you spent so much money and then bench him. But there is no shame in accepting a mistake. Just admit it, that you made a mistake by spending so much on Cameron Green. Drop him and try someone else. His bowling is not contributing much either, and it’s not like his presence is making the team combination look great because of both his batting and bowling," Virender Sehwag was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz.

The ex-India cricketer also emphasized that the Kolkata-based franchise should include Tim Seifert instead of Green, as he will open the innings alongside Finn Allen. In contrast, skipper Ajinkya Rahane can bat at the No. 3 position.

"So I feel you should bench Green and instead include Tim Seifert as an opener alongside Finn Allen. Then, Ajinkya Rahane should bat at number three, Powell at four, and Raghavanshi further down the order. This way, if Rahane gets out early, Raghavanshi can come in next; if someone else falls, then Powell or Rinku can step in as needed," he concluded.
