Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has reached a new career-high in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings after leading her team to a T20I series victory over Pakistan.
Athapaththu played important knocks in both matches of the series. She scored 39 runs in the opener and followed it up with 40 in the second game, helping Sri Lanka seal the series. Her consistent performances have taken her up one place to sixth in the batting rankings, which is the highest position of her career.
Beth Mooney retains number 1 spot
Australia opener Beth Mooney continues to hold the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings. She remains at the top after her outstanding displays during the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where she was named Player of the Tournament.
Another Sri Lankan batter to enjoy a big rise is Imesha Dulani. The youngster smashed an unbeaten 101 in the first T20I against Pakistan, registering her maiden century in the format. That innings helped her climb 33 places to a career-best 23rd in the rankings.
Pakistan's Muneeba Ali moved up four places
Pakistan also had a few positives despite losing the series. Muneeba Ali moved up four places to a career-best 30th after contributing valuable runs. Shawaal Zulfiqar was one of the biggest gainers, jumping from outside the top 100 to 52nd following scores of 63 and 48 in the opening two matches.
ICC Women's ODI rankings
The ICC Women’s ODI Rankings also saw several changes after Sri Lanka won the three-match ODI series 2-1 against Pakistan. The hosts wrapped up the series with a comfortable eight-wicket victory in the deciding match.
Harshitha Samarawickrama, who was named Player of the Series, finished as the highest run-scorer with 173 runs in three matches. Her unbeaten 73 in the final ODI helped her move up four places to 13th in the ODI batting rankings.
Sri Lanka’s Hasini Perera also improved her position, climbing two places to 35th. For Pakistan, Gull Feroza gained nine spots to reach 45th, while captain Fatima Sana advanced six places to 56th.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Pakistan left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu entered the top 10 after taking four wickets in the series, moving up three places to 10th.
Sri Lanka also celebrated gains among their bowlers. Chamari Athapaththu climbed one spot to 31st, while all-rounder Kavisha Dilhari moved up three places to 33rd after impressive performances during the series.
