Shubman Gill-led India will reportedly travel to Sri Lanka later this year for a two-Test match series after a long nine-year gap. The upcoming series will be an important part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. As India is currently sixth in the WTC points table, the series will play an important role for their chances to reach the WTC final. The team has won four matches, lost four and drawn one so far in the current cycle.
India is likely to play 3-match T20I series vs Sri Lanka
The report also suggested that India and Sri Lanka could play a three-match T20I series during the tour. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that discussions are underway regarding the white-ball matches.
“There is a request for three matches, and we will finalise the schedule soon,” Saikia said.
