Rohit Sharma has answered back in style after a quiet outing in the first ODI against West Indies. The India opener smashed a brilliant century in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati while chasing a huge target of 406.
Rohit reached his hundred in just 71 balls, hitting 10 fours and six sixes. The century came after he managed only 32 runs in the series opener.
This was Rohit’s 35th ODI century, adding another milestone to an already remarkable career.

Rohit creates history at 39
The century also brought a rare age-related record for Rohit.
At 39, he became the first player to score an ODI century in India at the age of 39. He also became the oldest batter to score an ODI century against West Indies.
Rohit’s century came at a crucial stage of India’s mammoth chase, with the hosts needing 406 runs after West Indies posted 405/7.

Rohit reaches 200 ODI sixes at home
Rohit’s six-hitting continued to make headlines in Guwahati. Earlier in his innings, he became the first batter in the world to hit 200 sixes in ODI cricket on home soil.
His four sixes during the early part of the innings took him to the landmark. Chris Gayle is second on the list with 147 sixes, while Martin Guptill has 132.

Another 12,000-run milestone for Rohit
Rohit also completed 12,000 runs in ODI cricket during his innings. He became only the seventh batter in the history of the format to reach the milestone.
The India opener has now firmly established himself among the most prolific run-scorers in ODI history.
Rohit remains ODI cricket’s six-hitting king
Rohit is already the leading six-hitter in ODI cricket. His latest sixes took his career tally in the format to 376, putting him ahead of Shahid Afridi’s 351 and Chris Gayle’s 331.
Across all three international formats, Rohit has smashed 665 sixes.
With a century, 12,000 ODI runs and the landmark of 200 sixes at home all coming in the same innings, Rohit’s knock in Guwahati has added another memorable chapter to his ODI career.
